Google recently launched their Pixel 4a – budget camera king. And today, it was all set to launch a few more products. One of the products that was launched today was the Google Pixel 5. And with it, Google is taking a new and interesting direction for their smartphone line-up.

On the inside, Google Pixel 5 is powered by the Snapdragon 765G – which as you all might know, is a mid-range chipset. Yes, the chipset still comes with 5G connectivity with the help of the X52 modem. But mmWave will only be supported in a few countries. Along with the chipset, it comes with 8GB RAM and 128GB Internal Storage.

On the front, there’s a 6.0-inch FHD+ 90Hz OLED display. Also, there’s a punch-hole cut-out on the top left of the device which houses the 8MP selfie shooter. The display is still protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 6 – which isn’t the latest and greatest from Corning – but should be decent.

The rear panel is made of aluminium. And on the top left side, there’s a square camera module which houses the dual camera setup. Fortunately, both are useful sensors – unlike some other brands packing in cameras for numbers. The primary is a 12.2MP sensor with f/1.7 aperture – which is paired with a 16MP f/2.2 ultrawide camera. Also, Pixel 5 supports recording of up to 4K 60fps with their rear cameras.

While we would have preferred to see a telephoto (Unpopular Opinion, Yes) sensor, we are not disappointed here. That’s mainly because Google’s computational photography will be able to help us achieve decent zoomed images. And that’s all thanks to their custom chipset handling the image processing.

Even though the rear panel is made of aluminium, Google Pixel 5 supports Wireless Charging and even Reverse Wireless Charging. And just like everyone else, we are wondering about how they did it! Also, the device is IP68-certified – meaning you’ll be protected from dust and water.

Pixel 5 will be one of the first few devices to come with Android 11 running out of the box. Oh, and there’s no fancy face unlock here as Pixel 5 has shifted back to the rear fingerprint sensor. All this will be powered by a 4,080mAh battery. And it is capable of charging at 18W through the USB Type-C port.

With Pixel 5, Google has introduced a new colour as well – Sorta Sage. That’ll be offered along with the Just Black colour variant. Pixel 5 is priced at $699. And the pre-orders for the same have already started. It’ll be available in the US starting October 29 while eight other countries will get the Pixel 5 on October 15.

If you live in Germany, France, Ireland or UK, and if you are willing to buy Pixel 5, pre-ordering it would be the perfect option. That’s because if you pre-order it before October 14, you’ll also get Bose QC 35 II Wireless Headphones for free. So, pre-order it right now as the offer is only valid till stocks last.
