OnePlus 8T is all set to launch on October 14. The design and specifications have been leaked quite a lot till now. And well, OnePlus has already confirmed that it’ll be having 65W Warp Charge technology. Recently, even the price of the OnePlus 8T was leaked – and it was lower than the OnePlus 8. And well, here’s how OnePlus will be able to price OnePlus 8T lower than OnePlus 8.
Let’s start with what will be at the heart of the OnePlus 8T. The earlier rumours said that the device will be powered by Snapdragon 865+. However, the most recent leaks say that it’ll have the same Snapdragon 865. While that isn’t bad by any means, the processors get cheaper with time. And by now, Snapdragon 865 would have substantially reduced in price. Also, buying in bulk helps reduce the cost too.
Now, let’s head to the display. OnePlus might not have saved much here. On one hand, they have gone back to the flat panels – which would help them save some costs. However, on the other hand, they have gone up from 90Hz panels to 120Hz. So, overall, it looks like they would have saved just a little here – if saved any.
Third main component would be cameras. On the back, OnePlus is expected to put in the same primary sensor as the OnePlus 7. Yes, OnePlus has been using the same sensor from the OnePlus 7 Series till now. Even their mid-range offering – OnePlus Nord – has the same sensor. They have only moved forward to a custom sensor for OnePlus 8 Pro. Rest all devices since OnePlus 7 have the same sensor.
It’s true that the smartphone cameras don’t need to have latest and the highest resolution sensor to produce great images. However, the overall lens system was also compromised going from OnePlus 7T to OnePlus 8. And we have covered about that degradation of the camera system in this article. Also, OnePlus 8T is still expected to have an ultrawide sensor along with the primary one. And again, that might be the same as OnePlus 8 – so bulk buying reduces costs. And other two sensors which are currently expected to be on the OnePlus 8T are 5MP macro and 2MP depth. 5MP macro can be seen as an upgrade – but overall, both are just there to make up numbers.
Also, if you know, the macro camera can be implemented with the help of the wide-angle lens. It has been already done by OnePlus on its previous devices – but it’s not doing it so that it can have a higher number of cameras. If you are expecting a better camera on the front, we would stop you right there. It is also expected to be the same sensor as seen on OnePlus 7. So again, you know buying these in bulk help a lot.
OnePlus 8T is supposedly going to have a larger battery with faster charging. And that’s great. So, there aren’t much savings here – except the R&D being done by its sister brands. And well, that’s still totally fine as the consumer is getting something better at the end of it. However, OnePlus 8T might not have Wireless Charging or IP Rating. So, that might be only available on the OnePlus 8 Pro for now.
Overall, several parts in the Tech Industry keeps getting cheaper as the time passes. And the prices reduce way more when there is a new and better thing coming up. Here, Snapdragon 875 chipsets might be announced soon. And hence, the overall pricing of 865/865+ reduces. Along with that, when a brand buys any part in bulk, they’ll get way more discount. And it looks like OnePlus has stocked a ton of these parts already. And hence, they’ll be able to price OnePlus 8T lower than the OnePlus 8.
