Last night, Google launched multiple products – including their latest Pixel 5. Along with that, they also launched a 5G variant of the Pixel 4a – Google Pixel 4a 5G. While it is launched as the 5G variant of its smaller brother, it’s quite close to the Pixel 5 as well.

Pixel 4a 5G is powered by the same Snapdragon 765G chipset which is seen on the Pixel 5. It can support 5G through the built-in X52 modem. This chipset is paired with 6GB RAM and 128GB of Internal Storage.

On the front, there’s a 6.2-inch 60Hz FHD+ OLED display. Even though it does not have high refresh rate, this is the largest display on any Pixel device this year. Also, it’s still a punch-hole display which is used to equip the 8MP selfie camera.

The rear panel is made of polycarbonate here – but it was expected. There’s a square camera module on the top left just like the Pixel 5. It houses the 12.2MP primary camera along with the 16MP ultrawide. This setup might sound familiar to you as it’s the same setup as that on the Pixel 5.

Water and dust resistance along with wireless charging has been dropped from the Pixel 4a 5G. However, that was expected as they had to keep a few exclusives for the Pixel 5. This device will also come with Android 11 out of the box.

All this will be powered by a 3,885mAh battery. This can be charged at 18W through the USB Type-C port. And you can plug your headphones in the 3.5mm headphone jack while charging the device. That’s something you can’t do on the Pixel 5.

Overall, you get a lower refresh rate display, slightly lower capacity battery and lack of IP Rating and Wireless Charging with the Google Pixel 4a 5G. However, there’s a price difference of $200 there. Pixel 4a 5G is priced at $499 – with same processor and same camera hardware. Oh, and the same Pixel software experience as well.

The pre-orders for the device will begin on November 5. And it’ll be available starting November 19 in all countries except Japan. For Japan, the Pixel 4a 5G will arrive on October 15 – which is great.

Also, the pre-order offer which was there on Pixel 5 also exists here. If you live in UK, Germany, France or Ireland, you can get Bose OC 35 II wireless headphones for free on pre-ordering the device. Pretty amazing deal – in our opinion.
