Google’s pixel line-up is mainly known for their cameras. Last year, they revealed the Pixel 4 – and that camera is still competitive today. It didn’t have an ultrawide camera – but the overall image quality was still great. This year, Google will launch a new device – the Pixel 5 – on September 30.

Google Pixel 5 launch

Google took it to Twitter to confirm that their next hardware launch will take place on September 30 – at 11AM PDT. It’ll be an online-only launch event – due to the situation the world is in. In this launch, we are expecting them to launch two new smartphones – Google Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G.

However, Google makes more hardware products. So, it’s also expected that the new Android TV dongle – similar to Chromecast in design – might launch as well. This new Android TV dongle is internally codenamed as Sabrina. Also, it’s expected that Google will be launching their new Nest Smart Speaker.

For the specifications on the Pixel device, it’s rumoured that the Pixel 5 will only be equipped with Snapdragon 765G. And there won’t be a Google device with the flagship Snapdragon 8-Series chipset – this year. It’s sad but also exciting to see what Google will price the new Pixel devices at.

Also, the Soli radar from the Pixel 4 will be removed on Pixel 5. That Soli radar was the reason why Pixel 5 didn’t make it to India. So, with that gone, we can at least hope for Pixel 5 to launch in India.

Rumoured Specifications

The best part about any Pixel device is the camera. And it looks like Google will be adding an ultrawide sensor to the Pixel 5. Also, Pixel 4a 5G is expected to launch with Snapdragon 765G along with a secondary camera on the back – which can be either telephoto or ultrawide.

Pixel 5 is also rumoured to have up to 8GB RAM and a similar 90Hz display. As a Google device, we can expect it to launch with Android 11 out of the box. Also, we can expect it to get consistent software updates – which is another selling point for Google.

What Google prices these devices at would matter quite a lot – especially when it’s only going to sport a mid-range chipset. If they price it well and if those cameras can beat other flagships – for both, audio and video – then this will be one of the best launches for Google.

The launch isn’t too far now. We’ll be right here covering the live launch event. So, sit back on your couch and stay tuned.
