Xiaomi’s budget-focused brand – Redmi is back with another device. Redmi 9i has been just revealed by Xiaomi in India. However, this is a weird device as everything is the same as Redmi 9A which was launched earlier. Redmi 9i just comes with more RAM and Internal Storage when compared to Redmi 9A.

Redmi 9i India

At its heart, the Redmi 9i is equipped with Helio G25. That is paired with 4GB RAM and either 64GB or 128GB of Internal Storage. The storage can be expanded by up to 512GB by using the microSD card slot.

On the front, Redmi 9i has a 6.53-inch HD+ LCD panel with a Dot Drop notch. The notch is used to equip the 5MP f/2.2 selfie shooter.

On the back, there’s a single 13MP f/2.2 shooter. It should be decent enough for daily normal snaps. But don’t expect the device to take extraordinary shots. LED flash is also present on the device – right below the camera.

There is no fingerprint sensor on the device – which is a bummer in 2020. However, it still retains the headphone jack – which is rare in 2020. Also, Redmi 9i runs on Android 10-based MIUI 11 out of the box – which is again, decent. Xiaomi has already confirmed that this device will be updated to MIUI 12 – in the future. All this hardware is powered by 5,000 mAh battery which comes with 10W fast charging support.

There are three colour options available at the launch – Midnight Black, Sea Blue, and Nature Green. As mentioned earlier, there are two RAM/Storage variants. The 4GB/64GB variant is priced at ₹8,299 while the 4GB/128GB variant is priced at ₹9,299. The device will be available for purchase – starting September 18 on Mi Retail Stores, their E-commerce website and Flipkart.
