Mi Smart Band 5 was launched in China a few months ago. And a few days ago, it was revealed on Amazon that the band will arrive in India on September 29. Today is that day. And the Mi Smart Band 5 has been launched in India.
On the front, there’s a 1.1-inch AMOLED display – which is a decent upgrade over the 0.95-inch one on its predecessor. This is a touchscreen and you will be able to interact with the elements on the display. Also, you’ll be able to set one of 100 different watch faces by Xiaomi. Not only that but you’ll be able to add more watch faces using some third-party applications.
This new band is a bit more feature packed. Along with the heart rate sensor, it also comes with SpO2 sensor to monitor your blood oxygen levels. Blood Oxygen level has become extremely important today due to Covid-19. So, we are glad to see it on the Mi Smart Band 5. Also, the band now supports 24×7 sleep tracking – which was long overdue. So, now it doesn’t matter what your sleep cycle looks like as the band will be tracking it all the time.
Total number of sports modes have also been increased from six to eleven i.e. five additional modes have been added to the band. If you want, you can also use the band as a remote camera shutter button. That feature was present on the previous version too – but is worthy of the mention.
Mi Smart Band 5 is powered by 125 mAh battery which can charged using the proprietary magnetic charger. This is much better than the previous bands where user had to remove the strap for charging. Xiaomi says that the band will last for about 14 days on a full charge.
Xiaomi’s Mi Smart Band 5 is priced at ₹2,499 in India. It will be available for purchase in Black colour starting October 1 on Amazon and Xiaomi’s own website. However, if you are willing to have a different colour, then you can buy an additional strap from Xiaomi. It’ll be offering Black, Navy Blue, Teal, Purple, and Orange coloured straps for the Mi Band 5.
