With the launch of the Amazon Fire TV Stick and Fire TV Stick Lite, Amazon also launched their 4th Generation of Echo Speakers. Amazon has launched their latest line-up of Echo Smart Speakers today. It includes Amazon Echo, Echo Dot and Echo Dot with Clock.

Amazon Echo Dot and Echo Dot with Clock

Let’s start with the smaller and cheaper offering first. The design of the Echo Dot is now changed. It’s not a donut anymore. Instead, they went for a shape that’s similar to some desk lights or well, a snowball. It looks great on the outside with the light ring shifting to the bottom part of the speaker – which is great.

Majority of the speaker is just speaker mesh with a plastic base part holding it. The plastic base also helps it stand still – and that’s the reason it’s not completely spherical. There’s a new 1.6-inch full-range speaker inside the Echo which should be decent for casual listening. Four microphones are installed on the speaker for better listening capabilities. However, you can turn the microphones off using an electronic switch – which is provided on the speaker.

On the Echo Dot with Clock, there’s an LED display on the front side of the speaker. This LED display will be able to show time, outdoor temperature, or timers. Also, there’s a light sensor installed on the speaker so that it can dim or increase the brightness – depending upon the environment.

Echo Dot will be available in three colour options – Black, White, and Blue – and is priced at ₹4,499. On the other hand, Echo Dot with Clock is priced ₹1,000 higher – at ₹5,499 – and will be available in just two colour options – White and Blue.

Amazon is already taking pre-orders for Echo Dot while the Echo Dot with Clock will be available later. The shipments for Echo Dot will begin after October 26.

Amazon Echo – 4th Generation

The new Amazon Echo – 4th Generation has the same design as that of the new Echo Dot. It’s spherical with grill on major part of the speaker and a plastic base. The light ring is again present on the bottom of the speaker – and we are really liking this new design.

Amazon Echo comes equipped with a new upgraded speaker system. On the inside, there’s a single 3-inch woofer and dual tweeters which will be more than enough to fill a medium-sized room. It also comes with Dolby Audio processing to give you the best output possible. Also, the Echo will tune the audio automatically by sensing the acoustics of your space – and that’s a neat feature.

With the 4th Generation of Echo, Amazon has introduced its first-generation AZ1 Neural Edge Processor. This will help the speaker to recognize the voice from four microphones installed on the speaker and then process Alexa requests much faster. Also, with the new Echo, you can directly connect smart home devices to Echo without any intermediate hub.

Just like Amazon Echo Dot, there’s an electronic switch to kill the microphones – if you want to keep your private talks private. Amazon Echo is also offered in three colour options – Black, White, and Blue. It’s priced at ₹9,999 and pre-orders will start soon on Amazon.
