OnePlus will be unveiling the OnePlus 8 Series in their global launch event on April 14. It’ll be an online event which every one of us will be attending through the same route. However, OnePlus has planned another launch event for its home market – China. This event will take place on April 16. However, you can already reserve OnePlus 8 Series device for yourself without waiting for the event.

The reservations for the OnePlus 8 Series device is only possible in China – and not globally. If you want to reserve one, you can go ahead and reserve one through JD.com or Tmall. If you want to wait for the launch event and price announcement, you can do that too. And even if you do that, you won’t have to wait for a much longer time. The sales of the OnePlus 8 Series will begin starting April 17 at 10 AM local time.

The OnePlus 8 Series will be equipped with the latest and greatest – Snapdragon 865 at its heart. This might be paired with 8GB/12GB RAM with the options of either having 128GB/256GB of storage. As the Snapdragon 865 comes equipped with the 5G Modem, both the devices are expected to have 5G Support.

On the front, OnePlus 8 is rumoured to have the 6.55-inch FHD+ 90Hz AMOLED display. However, the OnePlus 8 Pro is rumoured to have 6.78-inch QHD+ 120Hz AMOLED display. On both devices, we might see a punch-hole cut-out to equip the selfie camera.

As we have already started talking about the camera, let’s move to the rear side of the device. Here, we might see a quad camera setup – at least on the OnePlus 8 Pro. It is expected that there will be two 48MP sensors – Wide and Ultrawide paired along with an 8MP telephoto sensor and a 5MP depth sensor. A part of this camera setup looks similar to the Oppo Find X2 Pro. So, it’ll be interesting to see how good this performs.

The rear camera setup of the OnePlus 8 might not be that good – especially when the telephoto lens is lost. OnePlus 8 will have a triple camera setup which would include a 48MP primary camera paired along with a 16MP ultrawide and a 2MP macro. From only seeing the rumoured specs, I would guess that OnePlus 7T was a bit better in terms of camera. But well, I’ll reserve the judgment until I test it.

Everything mentioned here will draw the power from a 4,300 mAh battery on OnePlus 8. It’ll be 200 mAh larger cell on the OnePlus 8 Pro i.e. 4,500 mAh – which should be decent. We’ll also see 30W Wireless Charging debut on OnePlus 8 Series – at least, on the Pro variant. Also, there are rumours of the OnePlus 8 Pro finally receiving IP68 certification.

All these features are expected to come in at a huge cost. A pricing leak was recently spotted where it can be seen that the top variant might go over €1000. However, let’s just consider it as a leak until the final pricing is announced on April 14. We’ll have more to say once the final pricing is known.
