Earlier in 2020, Samsung launched their Samsung Galaxy S20 Series. Later in the year, they launched their Note20 Series. These two are the ones we usually expect from Samsung. However, we now have another Series which can be expected from Samsung in the future. It’s the Fan Edition of their flagship devices. To start that, Samsung has just launched the Samsung Galaxy S20 Fan Edition (FE) globally.

On the front, the Galaxy S20 FE is equipped with a 6.5-inch 120Hz FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED panel. Unlike their flagships, this is equipped with a flat panel. In the top centre of the display, there’s a punch hole which houses the 32MP selfie shooter.

The back of the device reminds us of the Galaxy Note20 Series as the camera module is just like that. There is a triple camera setup on the back – and all of them are useful sensors. The primary is a 12MP shooter with a wide f/1.8 aperture. That is paired with a 12MP f/2.2 ultrawide and an 8MP f/2.4 telephoto cameras. This telephoto camera is capable of shooting 3x optically zoomed shots and 30x hybrid Space Zoom shots – technically, digital zoom.

At its heart, the device is powered by the Snapdragon 865 chipset – and we wish for that to arrive in India as well. That is paired with 6GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage which can be expanded using microSD card. Higher variant is also available.

Galaxy S20 FE will be running on Android-10 based One UI out of the box. Everything in the device will be powered by 4,500 mAh battery which is capable of 25W fast charging through USB Type-C port. However, you’ll only get a 15W adapter in the box. So, if you want faster charging, you’ll have to buy the 25W charger separately – which isn’t great.

However, it comes with fast wireless charging 2.0 and even reverse wireless charging is present on the device. Not only that but the device comes with IP68 Rating – which just gives you a peace of mind. It also comes with dual stereo speakers and an in-display fingerprint sensor.

There are 4G as well as 5G variants for this device. Even in 5G, there are two variants – one with mmWave support and one without it. The one without the mmWave support – i.e. comes with only sub-6GHz support – is priced at $700. You can pre-order it on Samsung’s website right now. However, it’ll be available in stores and from retailers starting October 2.

The 5G variant that has mmWave support will be exclusive to Verizon – and might cost a bit more. However, the 4G might cost less as that’s powered by Exynos 990 and doesn’t have 5G modem.
