Google has released several versions of developer preview for Android 11 in the recent months. Now, the stable version of Android 11 has been finally released for Pixel devices. There are few other devices which are receiving their own Betas for Android 11 as well.
Some Features of Android 11
Android 11 comes loaded with more features than ever before. With Android 11, the notifications will now be grouped differently for messaging apps and will have its own section in the notification centre. This will help users differentiate messages from other notifications and might result into increased productivity. Also, the Bubbles feature is now widely implemented and not just present inside Developer Options.
The media controls have also been revamped with Android 11 – to make it more user friendly. The user will also be able to select the output channel directly from media player notification. So, if you want to quickly change the media output from your headphones to phone speaker or even any Chromecast-enabled device, you’ll be easily able to do that.
It also comes with a new screen recorder feature. Also, the UI for power button menu has been revamped. The power menu will also display your smart home devices as well as payment methods.
Android 11 also finally comes with the support of wireless Android Auto. However, it’ll be only available if you have a compatible system on your vehicle. As of now, very few systems are capable of wireless Android Auto.
There are a few features which are just limited to Pixel smartphones. AR-based location sharing and Google’s Smart Reply in Gboard are two such features. We would love to see these features on other devices later though.
Along with Pixel devices, few OEMs have also started rolling out Betas for some of their devices. One can’t be sure when the final rollout of Android 11 will take place on other devices. But it’s surely reassuring to see that OEMs are working on Android 11 and have already reached Beta Stage.
