Every brand has been recently focusing on achieving faster charging speeds on their smartphones. However, most of them are still focused on achieving those insane speeds for wired charging. But well, Xiaomi has been focusing on achieving those insane speeds for wireless charging as well. And for that, Xiaomi has just unveiled their 80W wireless charger which can completely charge a 4,000 mAh battery in 19 minutes.
Xiaomi’s VP has just revealed that new wireless charger by posting a video of the same on Weibo. In the video, the design looks the same as their current wireless charger. So, it’s pretty great that they were able to achieve this speed with almost the same design.
For this new 80W wireless charger, Xiaomi has equipped it with a dedicated chip and an independent coil system which helps it achieve that insane 80W charging speed. Along with that hardware for the charger, Xiaomi will also have to equip their devices with MTW multi-pole connectors, dual 6C series batteries as well as several software optimizations.
Xiaomi claims that the batteries will be able to retain 90% of its original charge capacity even after 800 full charges. And well, that’s the industry standard. So, that’s pretty great. It’s quite crazy that we are seeing such developments in the wireless charging.
We personally like the wireless charging tech a lot. The first time we used it was on a Moto 360 Sport and that’s the time we fell in love with it. So, we hope that we can see this technology being implemented in the next flagship series.
